Makeup is a very essential part of a girl’s life. Most of us can take over the world when we have our warpaint on. And putting it on and taking if off seems like one of the easiest things you have to do. Chances are, you’re so used to your regime by now, that you don’t even put any thought into it. And you may be doing it right, but what id you’re nit? What if by not paying attention, you’re ruing a little bit of your skin everyday. Fear not. Here are 7 ways to clean your face correctly. Make sure you’re following these to the T while washing last night’s makeup sins away.

1. Pre-cleanse:
One of the most important to-dos for makeup removal is the pre-cleanse ritual. Most experts agree that this is absolutely essential for your daily makeup removal routine. Dab a makeup wipe in your favourite cleanser and wipe off your face before you start your daily routine.

2. Face wash:
So you’ve wiped your makeup off, and it’s time for bed. Not just yet, ladies. Makeup and dirt have a way of clogging up your pores even after that first wipe. Make sure you’re washing your face thoroughly after your pre-cleanse with lukewarm water to really open those pores up and get all that residual makeup and dirt off.

3. How many wipes?:
This is one product you absolutely cannot be stingy with. When you apply your face on in the morning, there are 3 target areas you spend time on; base (face), eyes and lips. Follow the same regime when it comes to makeup removal, in the opposite order. Use different wipes for your lips, your eyes and your face. Mixing them up into one big wipe is just like redistributing your makeup into open pores in different areas. Not effective in the slightest, don’t you think?

4. Be careful with eye makeup:
Eye makeup is tricky. It can be extremely tough to remove your eye makeup fully, what with the eyeliner clinging on to those little spaces between your lashes. A separate eye makeup remover is absolutely essential for your makeup removal. Tae a cotton ball completely dipped in makeup remover, and hold it tight against your eye and keep it there. After a few moments, slightly rub from side to side with a little pressure to really get that eyeliner out.
If you notice that the mascara is still clumped around your lashes after your initial rub, we recommend taking a clean mascara wand and brush through your lashes to separate them and pull the makeup off.

5. Not too hot!:
So if lukewarm water is good to open the pores, hot water must be better, right? Wrong. Hot water is known to strip your skin of its moisture. And a dry face is a bane to sleep in, trust us.

6. Scrub with love:
Many believe that an apricot scrub with its sharp exfoliants is perfect for exfoliation. They’re right, but then they tend to use it daily, and there’s nothing worse than that. An apricot scrub (or something similar withe the crushed seeds and nut shells) is more of a once-a-fortnight routine. Choose a scrub with synthetic, non-abrasive exfoliants for your daily makeup removal routine.

7. Towel dry:
Yes, something as simple as a towel dry also can be done ineffectively. If you’re rubbing your face to dry it after your makeup removal, stop, now. You’ve already exfoliated with your scrub. If you rub your towel against your exfoliated skin, you’re running the risk of rubbing it raw, and you definitely don’t want that. Pat it dry instead.
