1. Check the expiry date and chuck the expired ones!

We can’t stress this enough. It is extremely important that you don’t use expired products as they can have some serious chemical reactions with your skin, especially the delicate areas around the eyes. Ideally the mascara used for your eyes should be replaced every three months, six months for the cream of eye shadows and up to two years for eyeliner.

2. Remove it carefully

Removing make up before you retire for the day is necessary as it gives the eyes and your skin enough time to breathe and prevents the pores from clogging up. Use a good quality, gentle remover that has no mineral oil or paraben is effective to keep your eyes healthy and dry eyes free!

3. Apply away from the lash line

It is best to avoid make up on the oil glands of the eyes, present on the upper or lower eyelid if you have sensitive eyes. While applying mascara, apply from the tips and not from the roots of the eyelashes, taking care that it is applied outside the lash line.

4. Choose the right kind of make up

Avoid using makeup to the eyes that flakes, gets into your tear film or increases irritation or itchiness. Avoid using a water proof mascara as it is difficult to remove it from the eye lashes. Switch to a thickening mascara instead as these flake much less. Avoid using colored mascara; black mascara is the least irritating to eyes.

5.Use a plastic eyelash curler

In case you use an eyelash curler, use a plastic one or one that has soft rubber instead of the metal ones as they cause less harm to the eyes. Also, make sure that you use the curler before applying mascara.

6. Don’t recycle your applicators

Don’t recycle your applicators! Never use an old applicator in a new product, as this would transfer the bacteria present on the applicator into the product.

7. Discard make up after you suffer from an eye disease

After suffering from eye diseases like conjunctivitis discard your mascara and other products that need an applicator as the microbes might contaminate the product.

8. Sharing is not always caring

Don’t share makeup. Every person’s skin has different bacteria. A skin infection can occur if another person’s skin bacterium contaminates your cosmetics. And the infection does not even spare your eyes.

9. Apply with caution

Even though eye makeup and make up removers are meant to be used around the eyes, they can still cause irritation. Apply them carefully only on the eyelid and avoid getting them in to the eyes.

10.As far as possible try to use hypoallergenic make-up for your eyes.

All that kept in mind, get ready to bring out the dazzle in your eyes girls!
